The Division of Immigration has sought the deportation of a houseworker who has allegedly been overstaying on Saipan for almost six years now.

Immigration investigator Nicolas T. Reyes filed a deportation case against Tessie P. Maligsa, a Filipino.

Superior Court Associate Judge David A. Wiseman ordered Maligsa to appear in court on Feb. 21 at 1:30pm and explain why she should not be deported.

Reyes stated in his report that Maligsa's nonresident work entry permit expired on April 15, 2002.

Reyes said the respondent does not have any pending Labor complaint and that she was never issued a temporary work authorization.

He said Maligsa did submit a nonresident worker's application at Labor Processing Section, but the application was never approved due to a deficiency that was not complied with.

Reyes said that, on Dec. 19, 2007, he received information that Maligsa has been a long-time illegal worker staying with her two children in Koblerville.

Maligsa is allegedly afraid of being arrested by Immigration agents.

“Respondent has overstayed for about five years and nine months and has failed to comply with the requirements or condition of her entry,” the investigator said.
